As usual, I'm going to say
more than I really should, and I hope you really feel like
you're inside my head a bit by the time you're done reading.
First, let's get that initial
introduction out of the way. If you read the whole first
page, you already know, but my name is Eric Sedgley. Now,
for the geographical history. I was born in Canada, on a
little island on the west coast. I lived there until I was
8 years old, and had no real media influence. There was
no television, and satellite was still too expensive for
my family to afford. As there were few people around, I
was schooled at home, through the third grade. We were really
remote, and I rarely even saw other children. We boated
into town for supplies twice a year. That should give you
a picture. At age 8, my father died, and I moved with my
mother to Las Vegas, NV, USA. For those of you who haven't
heard of Las Vegas, it's HUGE. Everything is big. I had
a huge culture shock, having never seen The Jetsons or Sesame
Street, much less Saturday Night Live or MTV. Well, I lived
there for 10 years. I went to a small, private rich kid
school thanks to the money my father left us. I was still
poor, and didn't have cable television, but I got through
it. I went off to California to go to college and become
a rich computer guy. Well, that was even bigger. Southern
California is like one big huge city. Along with college
I bought my first computer. I also got on the internet,
thanks to America On Line. It took me about 6 months to
figure out I was being robbed, and I switched to Earthlink.
While on Earthlink, I started messing around with websites.
Now, 5 years later, I build them for a living. I left Earthlink
after a year or so, and started finding really cheap service.
A couple of years ago, I switched to a cable modem. That
was super. But, all good things must come to an end. I graduated
with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, and a Business
Minor, and set out 6 months ago to take over the world.
I decided to start in corner, and moved the Pacific Northwest,
just north of Portland, OR. It's really nice here. I'm back
to rural life again. I rediscovered my family. And most
of all, while I'm trying to find that huge job and keep
the bills paid, I have a lot of extra time to create this
website and write my book. The only downside is that I'm
back on a 26.4 modem, since I'm too far away from anything
to get faster access.
So, you must be asking, why
conspiracy? Well, in high school, I started hanging out
at coffee shops, getting mochas and chai, listening to gothic
poetry, getting into the whole punk scene. I was a little
discontent with society as I knew it, as it had shocked
me and bitten me in the ass. So, through poetry, music,
and a lot of coffee, I learned distrust for the government,
and a passion for marijuana, which the governmnet denied
me. After going to college and largely giving up marijuana
in favor of beer and whisky, I found a lot more reasons
to distrust and dislike the U.S. government. I had visited
Australia, and seen the benefits of social medicine. I had
been to Los Angeles and seen the problems of immigration.
And I had lived in Canada, and felt a lot smarter for it.
So, now armored with a computer and the internet, I found
people who thought the same way I did. Now, I could really
care less who actually shot JFK. It's not even important
if the moon was actually landed on or not. So what do I
care about?
Well, here's where the second
question comes in nicely. Why media? Simple. I care about
other people. Other people and their children are being
affected every day and led around blindfolded by the media.
MTV and Friends tells them what to wear and how to act,
while Microsoft, NBC, and the New York Times tells them
how to think and what to buy. This is pathetic. I got really
fed up with how much like sheep people can be, and how our
current generation of children can't sit down at a table
for a meal without drugs or a television blaring. So, I
started to poke around a little, and put some things together
in my head. What I got out of it was a bunch of social theory,
combined with a little conspiracy theory, combined with
a hope for humans.
So here I am, publishing first
a website, and hopefully a book. I don't have too much background
in sociology or philosophy, but a lot of what I write on
this site will be much like getting a dousing in sociological
of philosphical theory. The conspiracy stuff can't be understood
correctly without it, and the facts are right in front of
everyone, so I don't need to sit here and explain Roswell
or crop circles. I'd rather try to help people understand
what's happening to them, and what they can do to pull the
wool from over their own eyes.
If you want to know more
about me, I'll put some contact information below. Feel
free to contact me by email or on an instant messenger.
I'm generally pretty happy to talk, although I do have a
reputation for getting busy and forgetting to respond after
a while.
Thanks, and I hope you
enjoy the site!
